Your Instructor:

David Cross is a professional blacksmith and owner of Rio Bravo Ironworks “The Forge at the Gorge” in Elora, Ontario.  Here he produces both functional and artistic works in steel and bronze for a variety of clientele.  David has been involved in adult education and special skills training for more than twelve years at community colleges, private institutions, and for the Ontario government.  He is currently the committee chair for the Elora Sculpture Project, and has authored two collections of poetry.

David encourages a direct, hands-on approach to skills development; he demonstrates each technique himself then sets you loose…guiding you through your project with further advice and coaching.   Each class is an experience you’re sure to remember.

 Terms

Each workshop has a limited number of spaces per session and a minimum enrolment is needed for each to run as scheduled. 

A deposit, or in some cases payment in full, is required to reserve your place.  Balance is due 14 days prior to the start date. Date changes and cancellations are allowed up to 14 days prior to start date.  Changes and refunds are subject to a fee.  No refunds within 14 days of start date.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, e-transfer or by major credit card.

These workshops take place in a functioning metalwork studio where there are temperature swings from quite cool to very hot and where powerful sounds and scents accompany the crafting of each piece.

Proper protective gear and suitable clothing is required at all times.

Participants are required to sign a waiver of liability.  Participants under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
